5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic and descriptive - a true classic, 21 May 2001
This book was origianlly released in 1979 (I think) so is now well out of date with current concerns in the countries it explores - but that is no reason not too buy this book as it timeless. It is still a thrill to read. Looking at the culture, lives and Islamic beliefs in Iran, Pakistan and Indonesia amongst others, VS Naipaul creates a narrative which is wonderfully descriptive, witty and very intelligent.

This book has made the last few weeks commuting into London a real pleasure. If you want a good read buy this book - it's a true classic.
